8 minors and 32 others believed to be victims of trafficking rescued by Pioduran PNP


Pioduran, Albay -  Operatives of Pioduran Municipal Police Station headed by COP Chief Insp, Marianne Fernandez rescued forty (40) persons,with eight (8) minors from Claveria, Masbate believed to be victims of trafficking on the night of November 22, 2016.. 

Information gathered by DZGB news disclosed that the persons were supposed to be brought to a sugarcane plantation in the province of Batangas as "sacadas". PCI Fernandez said that Claveria PNP coordinated to her office to intercept a group of persons from their town after recieving reports from the parents of  some of the children about the incident.

Police authorities conducted hot pursuit operation and rescued them while about to board on a truck in Brgy, Bacong, Ligao City.  Meanhwhile DSWD personnel from Pioduran temporarily took custody of those persons believed to be victims of trafficking and formally turned-over to Claveria PNP for proper disposition.  On the other hand, Claverria PNP  COP PCI Ciriaco Pacer said that they are now investigating on the possible child trafficking incidents happening in the island of Masbate.
